Hey there sports fans,
So the supporters of the Velvet Vandals and Frome Town Howlers skipped, punched, crawled and shuffled their way to Le Stad de Phlegm for the final of the first Golden Spittoon.
Expectations were high for both teams. There were even a few fights in the stands and body parts had to be removed from the pitch before play could start.
The Howlers received in the first half but their teams agility let them down when a hapless zombie failed to pass to one of the faster werewolves. From then on the ball bounced here there and everywhere until as time seemed to be slipping away a Vandal got the ball and scored in dying minutes of the first half.
In the second half the Howlers managed to keep the Vandals at bay but also failed to get the ball to the oppositions end and as the sands of time ran out so did the Howlers hope of a victory.

Congratulations go to the Velvet Vandals and their unbeaten record!
The award ceremony was brief with each of the Vandals player coming up to gob into the giant Golden Spittoon before taking it with them back to the jungle to hold until the next final.

Now for some cup admin. After looking at what happens at the end of a cup I've decided to simply move the same competition along so we can keep the stats together. What this means is I'll remove the current Golden Spittoon II competition and edit the existing one to become II. Anyone in the current Spittoon II will need to reapply to the edited cup. Anyone in the finished Spittoon I competition who wish to change their team need to remove the current team and reapply with a new team.
I'll make the changes tonight. Once these have been made everyone else should see no difference. Just do a league search for Golden Spittoon II and apply. Please start to get your teams ready in the next week so we can kick off the new cup competition soon.

Hock-A-Loogie Gazette - Golden Spittoon I - Cup News - 25th March 2013
Hey there sports fans,
We draw ever nearer to the conclusion of this exciting first cup run, but who has booked their spots in the final? Who will fight the final battle to lift the first Golden Spittoon and be immortalised (not that some players aren't already)? Keep reading and you'll find out!
To add to the tension, the gods saw fit to meddle in the games this week by creating a time loop just after the games were completed and wiped them from existence. This meant the games had to be replayed much to all coaches annoyances. We here at Gobit HQ (Spittoon administration association) have submitted a complaint and hope that this will be a rare occurrence in future!
Editor: The servers seem to go down intermittently and without apology or explanation from the software company. I think this is a risk we have to take. I have registered my annoyance with them along with several people!
Results
Velvet Vandals 1-0 Frome Town Howlers
The Frome Town Howlers braved the scorching heat of the Amazonian jungle to try and take a win from the unbeaten Velvet Vandals. Sadly as suspected the baking sun proved too much for the necromantic team and they lost to a single touchdown. In what the Vandals coach described as a scrappy match.
Pit Fiends FC 2-0 Weirdites
On the other side of the weeks fixtures the Weirdites travelled through the swamps to the blood pits to play against the Pit Fiends. The Fiends knew they had to win to have a chance at a final spot and went all out to cause maximum damage. With an early offensive play by the elves being brought down it was all one way traffic after that. Including the tragic death of the Weirdites catcher in a horn impalement incident.
Once the results were in the Fiends were unhappy to say the least to discover that despite having the same points and TD difference the Howlers were selected to go through to the final against the Vandals. The Fiends made quite a mess in the press conference and took the association representatives skull as their own trophy in compensation. I'm sure this wont be the last time we see them though.
So the final is:

Some say the Vandals took an easy route to the final but they've proven themselves more than capable against the Howlers. We eagerly look forward to this final!
They say all good things must come to an end but not so with the Spittoon. Hot on the heels of the final is the second cup. Please get your submissions in over Easter as we are aiming to start the cup on or around the 4th April.
We have also restarted the Wizard Head Open League for anyone who wishes to practice in the break.

Golden Spittoon II - Cup News 14th March 2013
Hey there sports fans,
Another week has passed as we draw ever closer to the final of the first Golden Spittoon cup competition.
This week saw the Jedi Blights go up against the ever growing (thanks to their team necromancer) Frome Town Howlers roster. Sadly this may be the Jedi Blights last game in this competition and perhaps the last time this coach will be seen with them as word of a sacking is in the offing. Their fortunes failed to improve much in this match up resulting in a loss.

On the other match up the ever injury plagued Pit Fiends FC team went up against the second beleaguered Elven team the Weirdites. Again despite a sterling effort from them the Pit Fiends triumphed but not without the Weirdites leaving them with more crippling casualties.

So in the last set of games before the final the Weirdites come up against the Pit Fiends in the blood pits of Zzgglaaargh. There's still a potential place in the final at stake even if the fiends will have to hobble there battered and broken. So the Weirdites can expect no mercy!

The Velvet Vandals play host to the Howlers. Lets hope the zombies rotting flesh isn't too off putting for the home fans in the jungle heat.

Hey there sports fans,
It's been another brutal gameweek in the quest to be the first to lift the Golden Spittoon.
An early lead was squandered by sloppy defense from the Pit Fiends and some great cage play from the Frome Town Howlers allowing them to equalize with 1 turn to go.

The Jedi Blights took some serious pep talking from their manager to persuade them to go back on the pitch for their back to back fixture with the Velvet Vandals. Sadly they received yet another pounding and their place in the cup hangs in the balance.

The Velvet vandals get a week off to clean the elven spatter from their uniforms.
The Pit Fiends head to the under dark to face the Weirdites. With both looking for a win in the cup it should be a spicy and very very dirty game!
The downtrodden Blights now have to face the Frome Town Howlers who, I've heard, have been starving their Zombies so much that some have acquired a blood frenzy! - Good Luck Blights I think you're gonna need it!
